Artificial valence
An architecture for projection-grounded AI: a self-model that makes outcomes matter to the machine, made falsifiable on a real robot testbed.
Product & Innovation Leader · Milan, Italy
The best technology is the kind you don’t see.
Nearly 30 years in tech: Product Lead at PagoPA, after co-founding and leading five companies across Italy and the United States. A computer scientist who still builds hands-on — AI agents, local-first computer-vision tools, and research into giving machines a sense of self.
I’ve lived several professional lives — and every one of them started with a leap.
I founded my first company, Information Delivery Systems, while I was still at university. Then I grew Concept in Milan for over a decade, turning consulting into software products. Then I left the comfort zone of the place I was born and raised and moved to San Francisco, where I launched and led Opinionage and Thingle.me as CEO — raising capital, building teams and shipping products on both sides of the Atlantic.
Along the way I was featured in Starting-Up in America (2011), a documentary by Tarik Ansari and Basil Glew-Galloway on the challenges international entrepreneurs face with US immigration to build their companies in Silicon Valley.
In 2021 I made another leap — from entrepreneur to intrapreneur — joining PagoPA’s Strategic Innovation department. Today I’m Product Lead at PagoPA, the state-owned company behind Italy’s public digital payments and services platforms.
What ties it together: I’ve been building things since I wired a brake light onto my bicycle at ten, and every change of skin has made me a lifelong learner. I’m fascinated by cognitive science — Hofstadter and Dennett in particular — and I stay close to the code, because that’s where good product judgment comes from.

CLIP- and ArcFace-based tools to organise photo archives entirely on-device: no cloud, no thresholds pretending to be certainty.
